A town with many faces

Maybe that explains why Emden has so many different faces. On the one hand a strong economic environment with a flourishing seaport, ultra-modern wind power technology and of course the Volkswagen plant, and on the other hand an impressive range of museums with for example the renowned Kunsthalle in Emden (museum of modern art), the Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum (East Frisian Regional Museum) and the Johannes a Lasco Library.

Or is our town so diversified, because the East Frisians have long since learned that opposites add spice to life? Cool, grey weather acquires a different hue after a good cup of golden-brown East-Frisian tea, tender young herrings only melt on your tongue when washed down by a gulp (or two) from a good pint of bitter, and the strong wind from the sea not only adds that extra dimension to your hairstyle, it also blows away those grey clouds in the sky.

No matter what it is that makes our town so many-sided, you can look forward to an exciting voyage of discovery ...
